Same owner since 1985 and loaded with favorable options including the 351 Cobra Jet engine! Nice original car! The second generation Mercury was the last of the Mustang-based examples ever produced. This design was only available from 1971 through 1973, and added a bit of luxury styling over their sporty Ford counterpart. Today, Cougars are quite desirable for collectors looking for the last muscle cars produced prior to the oil crisis and stiff federal emission controls. Especially with the 1973 being the last of the convertibles! This largely original 1973 Mercury Cougar Convertible is finished in factory correct Bright Red over White with Black weave insert interior! It’s fitted with the optional Q-code 351ci Cobra Jet engine producing 264 SAE factory horsepower! Behind this powerful Cleveland block mates a bulletproof C6 automatic transmission and 3.25:1 rear end! This Cougar comes loaded with factory options including power front disc brakes, high-back bucket seats, center console with working clock, power steering, factory air conditioning, power convertible top, original Philco AM radio, wire spoke wheel covers and whitewall tires, sequential turn signals, and wheel well lip moldings! It has seen just one repaint in the mid-1980s and survives from the last owner of over 25 years with just 87,820 original miles! The car started life in Jacksonville, Florida and made its way to Kentucky for the majority of its life! It was garaged along with a collection of other Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles. It was recently serviced with fresh fluids, new spark plugs, fuel filter, and brake inspection. It shows very well and remains very original throughout! Please feel free to call with any questions and we thank you for looking!
