Car seats are undoubtedly a must-have in order to keep your child safe in the car. Yet, just like so many other things, they can hide surprises that you might want your kid to stop. A few of the seatmakers, for example Graco, earned spots on both the most effective and worst lists. Although the best and worst performers in the tests earn a numerical score, the tests don't indicate the exact number of the detected chemicals. Things have gotten better, though, with average carseat rankings improving by 64 percent since 2008.
